Fun Birthday Gift

Do you have a friend that seems to have everything? Maybe several friends? Maybe it is just that when you get older you just buy yourself whatever you want, so there really isn't anything else for others to buy you?

I sometimes have a hard time shopping for my friends, if you couldn't tell. I like to make the gift personal, but also functional. I get tired of framing pictures or cute quotes, and buying clothes or shoes can be tricky. I love gift cards, but they can seem so "I didn't know what to get you so I bought you a gift card".

Do you see the problem?

I have a close friend who is celebrating a birthday on the 2nd. Her husband is currently deployed so I wanted to do something special. I partnered up with another good friend of ours and we got our think tanks turning.
Say hello to the gift card bouquet.

We got gift cards to all her favorite places, as well as one for a pedicure. Can you believe she has NEVER had one? I will be joining her. You know, for moral support on her first time. ;)
We also threw on some gum, mints, and nail polish. I normally would have used a bunch of candy, but she is on a sugar free diet until her husband comes home.

Just tape all your goodies onto skewers and poke them down into the vase. We used a Styrofoam ball to keep them in place. Throw a big bag of mints down to cover the bottom and the ball and call it good.

Disney Bags

As I mentioned, I am heading to Disneyland in a few days. I am beyond excited! It is a girls only trip, which I have gotten a bunch of crap for, and that means no strollers. My sister and I were brainstorming one day about what we would bring to carry all our stuff. A purse would get obnoxious very quickly. Throwing a card, my phone, and my ticket in my pocket makes me a little nervous. My mom bought herself a Disney Dooney and Bourke purse... not even going to happen! So what else is a girl to do?
Make one!

We ran through several options for fabric until I decided on the chevron. One perk about being the seamstress? You get to be the ultimate decision maker. I followed the same basic tutorial for the Ipad cases using a 7.5 by 9.5 inch measurement, and then just added some straps.
The insides coordinate with our princess shirts, which you will see more of after the trip. I will be sporting a Belle shirt so I went with red for the rose. So excited to get some pictures of my projects in action!

Oh My...

Has it really been a month and a half? I have been up to my ears in projects and no time to post about them. Most of the projects I have been doing lately have been random things for other people. Nothing really post worthy, though. :(

Here is a sneak peek of one of the projects I have been working crazy hard on. You will be seeing a ton more photos in about two weeks!
